Minimax has worked with dozens of hedge funds and private traders to develop optimized quantitative trading systems centered around their theory or idea on the markets. At Minimax, we believe in building trading systems that really work. As such, we don't use any data-snooping techniques, are very aware of various biases in financial data (data-mining bias, survivorship bias, propensity for multicollinearities, leptokurtic asset returns, etc.), and will guarantee you that our results will absolutely minimize the probability of a type-one error.
System Creation Process
We first have a detailed discussion with you either by phone or e-mail as to exactly what you want your system to do. We ask you detailed questions about your trading concept or idea. We also assess your risk tolerance, desired frequency of trading, and future financial goals. We have found that traders often only have a vague notion of what they want in a computerized trading system or how that system might be implemented. It is therefore imperative that we find out through detailed discussion the theory behind your trading concept.
Trading System Backtesting
We can also provide backtesting services using our extensive database of financial markets data. This database includes tickers that are no longer available because of delisting or other reasons. Having data from old tickers solves the issue of survivor bias. If you have an existing trading system but, don't know how to back test it, we can help you.
